A novel hybrid nano zerovalent iron initiated oxidation – biological degradation approach for remediation of recalcitrant waste metalworking fluids
The main impact of this publication has been on the commercial and academic sectors that specialise in treatment of recalcitrant toxic industrial effluent such as operationally exhausted metal working fluids (MWF). The study highlighted the fact that some chemical constituents cannot effectively be bio-treated end-of-life and may require an initial chemical oxidation step. The study represents the culmination of over four years study, the success of which has been reflected in the award of six prizes reflecting excellence in wastewater clean-up research including the Ford TMM Engineering, Edie Environmental Excellence and BAE Systems Chairman Awards.
