A generic controller architecture for intelligent robotic systems
This paper was the culmination of a robotics research programme at University of Sunderland, focusing on both robot controller architectures and the design of modern robot control strategies. I supervised my co-author’s PhD in this area, although the paper was written during collaboration between Sunderland and Teesside Universities following his departure to the latter to take up a full-time academic post. The paper represents a serious attempt at devising an architecture that facilitates the implementation of the many so-called intelligent control strategies for robots that are to be found in the research literature, but which rarely get as far as widespread industrial application. It is a respected journal that aims to disseminate the application of research to the development of new or improved industrially-relevant manufacturing technologies, equipment, and strategies.
