Double-weighted statement

The Invention of Deconstruction combines unusually complex theoretical analyses with historical research into the reception and translation history of deconstruction in the United States. It contains a detailed survey of the emergence of deconstruction in the 1960s and 1970s, a comprehensive description of the reinvention of deconstruction after the death of Paul de Man, and a reassessment of the full trajectory of Derrida's work to the present. It attempts a survey of critical history from 1966 to 2013, focusing on philosophical problems of truth, time, politics, history and ethics as key contexts in which influential misunderstandings of Derrida emerged.
