Additional information

The work inspired the use of sample dimension change as a measure of sintering efficiency to avoid the difficulty in accurately measuring real sample temperature during microwave sintering (Marinel et al., J. Microwave Power and Electromagnetic Energy, 44 (1), 2010, pp. 57-63; Key Engineering Materials Vols. 434-435 (2010) pp 376-381). It has advocated the comparison of microwave and conventional sintering of alumina powders (Zuo et al., J. Am. Ceram. Soc., 96 [6] (2013), 1732) and the microwave sintering of ceramic coatings on metallic annoys in Beijing, China htgroup@mater.ustb.edu.cn (Y. He).
