I defined and initiated this project, which demonstrated a new and unique ability to tune the refractive index of a composite structure with arbitrary distribution, opening up new possibilities for THz optical components. I supervised the work of the two PDRAs Savini (who was at Cardiff when this work was done) and Zhang, and co-wrote the paper.
