Additional information

The process described is patented (The DyeCat process, WO2007/052009) and exploited in applications in textiles, packaging, cosmetics, and printing. The process produces coloured polyesters completely eliminating wet processing, providing huge savings in terms of energy, water, and pollution creation. Additionally, technical performance and fastness of the coloured polymer is superior to any current commercial process. The process has received coverage in international media and a dress made using the process was displayed at the 'Trash Fashion: designing out waste' exhibition at London Science Museum for 18 months (antenna.sciencemuseum.org.uk/trashfashion).

Blackburn was primary inventor and led the coloration aspects of the system.
