Double-weighted statement

Slavery in the medieval context is a problematic topic and the monograph is the first comprehensive account of slavery in Wales, Scotland, Ireland, and England c.800-1200. This 157,580 word monograph is the product of 8 years of research. It incorporates analysis from a wide range of primary sources including law codes, penitentials, hagiographical tracts, chronicles, poetry and sagas written in a range of languages (Latin, Old English, Middle Welsh, Old Norse, Old Irish) to explore the extreme cultural/social significance of slavery for medieval Britain and Ireland.
