Additional information

The research was the basis of the formation of a company (CAMLASE) funded initially by a Royal Society Brian Mercer Award (value GBP250k). In turn the research was funded by the Cambridge Integrated Knowledge Centre, of which Professor White was PI, to enhance exploitation (GBP25k, EP/H00274X/1) and which focussed on the extension of the idea to a graphene-based tunable modelocked laser. The work was reported in a plenary paper by Professor Ferrari at LEOS 2011. Dr Frank Wang (White's PhD student) has been appointed to a Professorship at Nanjing University and Dr Alex Rozhin to a Lectureship at Aston University.
