Significance of output:

We have developed a Cooperative Space-Time Coding (CSTC) scheme employing irregular design for a twin-relay aided network, which is capable of doubling the transmission rate of a single-relay aided scheme. The paper represents one of only few to propose practical channel coding schemes for approaching the relay channel's capacity and our scheme operates within 1.5dB of the relay channel's capacity, which outperforms all existing twin-relay aided schemes. Hence, our CSTC scheme is the most power efficient candidate for the relay-aided 4G LTE-Advanced standards. The work described contributed to attracting the EU CONCERTO grant (5.8M+ Euros).
