A high C/O ratio and weak thermal inversion in the atmosphere of exoplanet WASP-12b
As leader of Keele's Spitzer exoplanet programme Maxted was involved with the discovery of WASP-12, its selection as a Spitzer target, and the writing of Spitzer exoplanet proposals. He developed data-analysis techniques for deriving occultation depths in Spitzer data (which are below the level of the instrumental systematics) as reported more fully in the companion paper Campo etal 2011 (ApJ, 727, 125), including supervising Keele PhD student David Anderson who derived occultation depths in the WASP-12 data, underpinning the result in this Nature paper. Maxted also contributed to the structuring and writing of this paper.
