English abstract
This essay urges contemporary philosophers of religion to rethink the role that Kant’s critical philosophy has played in the creation of the ‘analytic’ nature of modern philosophy. A recent interest of analytic philosophers of religion in ‘analytic theology’ in particular, would benefit from a return to Kant’s critique of pure reason and to reason’s drive for the unconditioned. Too often analytic philosophers have either missed or misunderstood the Kantian distinction between knowing and thinking, which is crucial for thinking ‘God’ as a regulative ideal.
