Additional information

Material in common with outputs published prior to 2008:

As noted in the acknowledgements, parts of this book draw on work that was originally published in academic journals prior to 2008, but this material has been substantially developed and reworked, and combined with new material, a) to construct an entirely new argument about the importance of recognizing and celebrating the normative dimension of the sociology of education, and b) to strengthen and extend arguments developed in previous work for a more ethically reflexive and policy-oriented sociology. In total, the previously published material comprises approximately 15% of the book, with the other 85% comprised of wholly new material.
