Additional information

Previous techniques for measuring gas flow rate in ‘wet gas’ flows using differential pressure devices required a-priori knowledge of mass flow 'quality'. This paper, based on an EU funded Marie_Curie IIF project, presents a new mathematical model for the gas flow rate requiring measurement of gas volume fraction at the inlet and throat of a Venturi and the pressure drop between the inlet and throat. Using this model, with measurements obtained from a ‘Conductance Venturi’ flowmeter, the gas volumetric flow rate was measured with a mean error of -0.04% and with a standard deviation in the error of 0.98%.
