Additional information

<17>This paper is part of a coherent strategy to extend the work described in (JO1101) and our 2006 IEEE Transactions paper (doi: 10.1109/TKDE.2006.130) . This research strand is establishing increasing experimental rigour for the measurement of short text semantic similarity algorithms, including an ANOVA study of experimental methods influencing ratio scale properties of semantic similarity and maximising precision of human judgments. These are largely ignored as issues in prior work. Examples from the dataset were quoted by Diab at the 2012 DARPA STS workshop (March 2012, Columbia University, http://www.cs.columbia.edu/~weiwei/workshop/index.html).
