Additional information

This paper outlines a mathematical model that describes how measurements taken with pixellated detectors are limited by sensor noise. The model allows the user to predict the performance of in situ beam diagnostics technology for low dose levels such as used in radiotherapy. Since publication in a leading optics and photonics journal, a collaborative effort has started to use the model to investigate the feasibility of in situ dosimetry and time dependent dose delivery with a radiotherapy source manufacturer (www.xstrahl.com).
