Additional information

The Planck Satellite, an international telescope developed by the European Space Agency and NASA, has produced cosmic energy background distribution data that will allow theories for the origins of the universe to be tested. The paper describes calibration of the Planck Low Frequency Instrument, demonstrating through the 1/f noise performance that it is the most sensitive instrument of its kind. Results from the work have been applied throughout the international astronomy community, for example DOI: 10.1117/12.926095, DOI: 10.1117/12.926159. (Lead Planck Scientist at Jet Propulsion laboratories, NASA, contact details available). [NOTE: Author George published under maiden name Kettle]
