This paper details results from a collaborative project with Pfizer (contact details available). The paper proposes a method which significantly enhances product quality control in drug manufacturing by allowing real-time inspection of a pharmaceutical tablet in order to ensure the medicinal effectiveness and mitigation of any health risks. Such real-time monitoring scheme is expected to be adopted not just by Pfizer but other multi-national pharmaceutical companies.
