Non-linear piezoelectricity in zinc blende GaAs and InAs semiconductors
This recent paper presents the first report of quadratic and cubic piezoelectric coefficients in semiconductors, forming the most in-depth-description of nonlinear effects in semiconductors to date. This is crucial to realization of novel piezotronic (piezo+electronic) devices, (http://www.nanoscience.gatech.edu/zlwang/). This work led to Migliorato giving an invited lecture (details available) and carrying out collaborative research at Georgiatech in 2013 and an invited talk at ICN2013, Ontario, Canada (http://icn2013.uwo.ca). One of the students involved was recently awarded an EPSRC Doctoral Prize Fellowship (http://www.eee.manchester.ac.uk/news-and-events/phd-student-awarded-epsrc-doctoral-prize-fellowship-201314.htm), which will enable him to further the activity in piezotronics for the duration of one year.
