Additional information

It is well known that a reset control system can be stable even when the underlying linear system is unstable. This paper introduces a tool that can be used to ensure stability of the closed-loop system without any longer requiring the open-loop system to be stable. This framework has been used by Tarbouriech et al (DOI: 10.1016/j.nahs.2012.06.001) to analyse nearly periodic reset actions. The work has paved the way for industrial applications of reset systems (DOI: 10.1109/TAC.2011.2164819 and DOI: 10.1109/TIA.2011.2161629) such as on induction hobs by Bosch and Siemens Home Appliances (contact details available).
