Additional information
This EPSRC funded PhD work demonstrated that a metamaterial structure exhibiting negative permittivity can be incorporated with traditional binomial filter design, significantly reducing filter size and enhancing its roll-off performance. The work has been well received within the RF/microwave community as one of the early demonstrators on manipulating material permittivity for filter applications, e.g. in filter selectivity enhancement (DOI: 10.1155/2012/515167), in defected ground structures (DOI: 10.1049/iet.map.2011.0071), and in microstrip antenna (DOI: 10.1109/ICIAS.2010.5716121).
