Additional information

This publication presented an idea on utilising interference energy to enhance the useful signal energy in 3G communication systems in an eco-friendly way. The work has shown how several dB of signal-to-noise ratio performance improvement can be achieved, and has potential applications in future wireless systems where reducing energy consumption is paramount. Further work based on this paper was carried out at QUB in Northern Ireland (contact details available) and by the first author (DOI:10.1109/TCOMM.2013.022713.120632). This work also helped secure an EPSRC grant in green heterogeneous networks (EP/J021768/1).
