Additional information

As presented in (1) this research was aimed at investigating the question whether manufacturing tolerances can be a reason for the discrepancies presented in previous established research. This aspect of the research was to investigate the issue in-vivo within a newly established research laboratory in the Technical University of Guangxi and co-sponsored by the Chinese Government. The experimental investigations supported the theoretical findings in (1) and this joint study has demonstrated that it is necessary to include manufacturing tolerances in the analysis of a journal bearing’s performance as it has a marked effect on its actual performance.
