A model of giant vacuole dynamics in human Schlemm's canal endothelial cells.
This paper established the first cell culture model that reproduced key cell biomechanical functions involved in glaucoma pathogenesis. It led to 3 invited talks at international conferences (2012: International Congress of Eye Research, BMES, 2010: ARVO), formed the basis for the 2013 International Research Scholar Award to Overby, led to two invited commentaries published in International Glaucoma Review (2010,2011), and a moderator position for the 2012 ARVO-Pfizer Ophthalmics Research Institute. This model generated preliminary data for our second NIH funded R01 ($400k to Overby as co-PI; EY022359, 2012 ) and a grant from Fight for Sight Research Foundation (£100k; 1385).
