This paper describes the ‘state of the art’ of hybrid light steel panel and modular systems and in-particular work done by the authors in the production of an important test building used to progress key aspects of the technology. The data arising from the large scale thermal, acoustic and structural tests, and FE analyses that were carried out has been widely adopted by commercial providers for the design of systems and is now embodied within the technical advice issued by the Steel Construction Institute for aspects of compliance with building codes and standards.
