Additional information

This paper describes some of the latest technologies developed at ERPE Centre for Gas Hydrate Research for avoiding gas hydrate problems, including a novel technique for evaluating Kinetic Hydrate Inhibitors (KHI). The technique, revolutionises the understanding of KHI hydrate prevention mechanisms and eliminates all previous repeatability problems. For the first time, it demonstrates that KHIs have a Complete Inhibition Region. Industry has widely adopted this work and fundamentally changed their practices, e.g., Total (DOI:10.2118/164258-MS). The technique has been the basis for two ERPE Joint Industry Projects (£937k + £693 and numerous consultancies Hydrafact (Saudi Aramco, Talisman, Dolphin, Total, Endeavour).
