Significance of output:

This paper presents and validates a totally novel concept in high strain rate testing of materials with the potential to revolutionize this field of research in the coming years. This methodology has recently attracted funding from the EOARD (grant FA8655-13-1-3041) and is already being used by young leading figures in high strain rate testing of materials (Dr Clive Siviour in Oxford, Prof. Pascal Forquin in Grenoble, France). A PhD is also being funded on this topic by ONERA in France (French Aerospace Lab), which I co-supervise. It is anticipated that this topic sees rapid development in the next few years.
