Double-weighted statement

At over two hundred thousand words The Phenomenal Self is a substantial book, and the culmination of fifteen years work. It is devoted to the comprehensive elaboration and detailed defense of an original experience-based account of the nature of the self. Of the twelve chapters, one is introductory, and three summarize work (on the unity of consciousness, fission) presented in previous publications. The content of the remaining nine contains entirely new, previously unpublished, material.
