Additional information

This describes, for the first time, the Additive Layer Manufacture of a range of high performance Inconel 625 metal matrix composites. The research, in collaboration with EOS GmbH stuart.jackson@eos.info and Materials Solutions Ltd carlbrancher@materialssolutions.co.uk, demonstrates ALM’s significant promise for the production of lighter, high performance components for high temperature applications. The impact in the aerospace sector is high, with potential for significant through-life fuel savings for aircraft operation, but offers impact across multiple sectors, including power generation, autosports and space, where the light-weight advantages can be exploited in high-temperature environments, e.g. turbine housings or blades, providing cost and environmental benefits.
