Additional information
This work is the first to express the dynamic friction model (DFM) as a function of both viscosity and friction, and this is employed to derive the underlying mathematical form for the forces involved in flat rolling. The predictions from this work in describing the distribution of contact stresses, particularly for the neutral plane, have been successfully validated experimentally. The work forms an important contribution to the understanding of vibrations in cold rolling.
