Professor Saks is employed as a full-time Research Professor at UCS and his role principally includes the undertaking of research. The HEFCE REF Team (through Vicky Jones) has confirmed that UCS staff, for the purposes of REF, are employed by an organisation other than an HEI and, as such, are eligible to be returned to the REF by another HEI as Category C.
Since 2010, Professor Saks has been Visiting Professor of Health and Community Studies, in the College of Social Science at the University of Lincoln, and his research was primarily focused in the submitting UOA on the census date. Prior to this, he was Senior Pro Vice Chancellor at Lincoln, until 2010, with central responsibility for Research and was returned in RAE2008 in the same UOA. Professor Saks has joint research publications, from 2007 to 2013 in the area of professional regulation and health, with Professor Judith Allsop, who is being submitted as a Category A member of staff, in this UOA, by the University of Lincoln.
