Additional information

<02>This paper is the first journal publication, as far as we are aware, that details a methodology that makes sensitivity studies of hardware designs tractable. This paper and its conference predecessors spawned a now common research direction of using machine learning techniques to explore computer architecture performance. Work led to release of Fusion Predictive Modelling Tools (FPMT), which were the subject of tutorials presented at ASPLOS and ISCA.
