Primo Levi’s Narratives of Embodiment: Containing the Human
This monographic study covers the entire range of Primo Levi’s writings, and proposes an innovative and complex interdisciplinary theoretical and critical perspective on his work. Research for the monograph required a substantial amount of secondary reading across a range of disciplinary areas; this then informed the development of an original methodological approach. The study draws widely on literary theory, psychoanalysis, philosophy of science, theories of embodiment and cognition, gender theory, perspectives on posthumanism, and the concept of containment, most of which have not previously been applied to Levi’s work or used in conjunction with one another.
