This research work resulted in a continuing collaboration and a sponsored PhD research project with local SME M. Wright and Sons Ltd. (Loughborough Contract Reference J12796). The results from this work were also presented at the 15th European Conference on Composite Materials (ECCM15) in Venice, Italy, June 24-28 2012. Finally, this work has led to an EPSRC CASE award collaboration with GE Aviation (EPSRC CASE voucher number 12220745, GE Aviation contact: Dr S Mason, GE Aviation Systems, Kings Avenue, Hamble-Le-Rice, SO31 4NF)
