Additional information
This paper describes the means of extending the effective performance of Helmholtz resonators by use of a unique oscillating volume. The work was conducted in collaboration with Cambridge University (Engineering Department) who also introduced active control to this concept. The work is part of a suite of studies into resonator performance and their use for the potential suppression of combustion instabilities and the problems associated with such an application which has led to several patents (e.g EP1669670, US7448215, EP1862739, US7857094)
