Significance of output:
Electrorheological (ER) fluid is a kind of ‘smart’ material that has been widely applied in components such as clutch, valves, vibration damping, and so on, but all in a continuous phase. In this paper we expanded ER fluid research into a new area of multiple phase systems and digital droplets, by synthesizing new type of ER fluid and inventing appropriate microfluidic systems. There are following up researches from more than 10 other groups (requested material), and applications into chemical reactions, bio-assays and logic computations in microfluidics. Patent applied (20110114190).
