Additional information

Solga was commissioned by Playwrights Canada Press to develop this volume, along with its associated award-winning play anthology, New Canadian Realisms: Eight Plays. Solga and collaborating co-editor, Roberta Barker, shaped the project specifically to encourage Canadian theatre studies to reconsider the political potential of realist performance practice in contemporary, globalised, multicultural Canada. Barker and Solga co-wrote the 6,000-word introduction, Solga acted as the lead author on her 7,000-word chapter with Susan Bennett, and together Barker and Solga shared equally the labour of curating and mentoring commissioned authors through three edits each of their contributions. The results include two award-winning chapters.
