Additional information

This work was carried out in collaboration with Irish Separation Science Cluster funded by Science Foundation Ireland at the Bio-medical Diagnostic Institute, Dublin City University. Unique CFD models were successfully developed for three different microfluidic geometries to understand the effect of channel geometry and design on fluid flow and mixing to optimise geometry and dimension for bio-medical diagnostic devices where mixing of multi-phase fluid flow is important. This work introduced rectangular blocks and also fins at 30° angle to improve mixing within the microchannel. It established a new network of leading researchers within Ireland, Poland and Australia.
