This manuscript builds on outcomes obtained with financial support from BBSRC (BB/F002866/1). Through the creation of a drug screening model for corneal treatment, this paper introduces a new methodology for online and non-destructive monitoring of corneal stromal cell behaviour. The project involved two opthamologist consultants (KY Then and S Rauz, Birmingham and Midlands Eye Hospital) and used human cells which revealed more clinical relevant information.
