The Reality Street Book of Sonnets

International in scope and accompanied by a 5000 word critical introduction, this anthology gathers the sonnets of 84 ‘linguistically innovative’ poets whose work has been largely ignored and omitted by the editors of successive big-press sonnet anthologies. Denounced by the prominent Modernist poets, I aimed to show that during the Twentieth Century the sonnet has not been simply an ‘official verse culture’ form but also a vital one for more experimental practitioners. By providing a visible platform for these poets, I also intended the anthology to signal the experimental sonnet as a new and viable poetic sub-genre.
