Additional information

This novelty of this work is in that it provides evidence for Na+/Ca2+ exchanger activity in potentiating agonist-evoked Ca2+ signals. Funding to further examine this phenomenon was awarded to Dr Harper by The Physiological Society (Research Grants (438)), and has formed the basis of an on-going collaboration with the University of Cambridge – leading to a subsequent publication in Physiological Reports (Sage et al., 2013 In Press).
