Additional information

Being the first in fields of both microfluidics and surface science to demonstrate anti-fouling properties of nano-structured materials, this work was recognised by a broad community due to its interdisciplinary nature. It was chosen for presentation at a landmark event in Tokyo, Japan, MicroTAS conference, having over 100 attendees from academic and industry. The manuscript is published in a leading international journal, and has led to invited talks at national and European level. This work led to an invited review article in one of the leading materials science journals (Roach et al, Soft Matter, 2008)
