Additional information

This paper demonstrates for the first time that electrical detection of protein interactions can be achieved by direct measurement of open-circuit potential variations. This interdisciplinary study led by Estrela involves collaborations with leading groups in the clinical and life sciences. The results enable the construction of portable and inexpensive biosensors for the label-free detection of protein interactions in a wide range of applications, including medical diagnostics.
