Changes in the stress in the femoral head neck junction after osteochondroplasty for hip impingement: A finite element study
The paper addresses an important question in orthopaedic related medical research which has not been investigated previously. The output from the research includes guidance as to the safe depth of resection for surgeons when undertaking surgery of the type described in the paper and recommendations for post operative rehabilitation care. The model developed and recommendations made in the paper will lead to improved clinical outcomes in patients undergoing osteochondroplasty for hip impingement. One of the paper’s co-authors is a Consultant Hip and Knee Surgeon working at the Centre for Hip Surgery at Wrightington Hospital in Lancashire.
