Detailed reaction kinetics for the dehydrogenation of methylcyclohexane over pt catalyst
This paper is a detailed kinetic evaluation of the dehydrogenation of methylcyclohexane system where there is much debate around the rate determining step and catalyst inhibition. Using model rate equations based on power law, single-site and dual-site Langmuir-Hinchelwood-Hougen-Watson kinetics and competitive and non-competitive Horiuti-Polanyi mechanisms. This work is significant in using wide ranging conditions from over 1000 experiments including reactions carried out on bi-products and with and without hydrogen feed. One of the authors, Rashid Usman has gone on to an academic position in the Punjab in Pakistan and continues to collaborate on the topic.
