Double-weighted statement

As the first multifaceted analysis of the end of Paganism as this impacted upon the material form of cities, this book offers a novel perspective on the pagan-Christian transition and on the re-use of pagan material culture in a Christian landscape. This innovative approach to the study of the Late Antique cities required comparative analysis drawing upon a rich and diverse range of historical, textual, epigraphic and archaeological sources, in numerous languages. Field research was combined with extensive periods of work on old publications and document archives in Oxford and Rome.
