Additional information

This research paper was the first to propose the application of Copulas to the representation of wind turbine power curves, and to demonstrate their effectiveness. Researchers worldwide are now using such models for wind power analysis, including at the Tsinghua [Chongqing Kang, cqkang@tsinghua.edu.cn] and Chongqing (Kaigui Xie, kaiguixie@yahoo.com.cn) universities in China. The research was key to delivering Energy Technology Institute (ETI) funding [ET/G000085/1, £330k, 2009-2014, Stewart.Swatton@eti.co.uk] which supported a PhD student to develop the technique to improve reference power curve accuracy for condition monitoring purposes, and led to a related publication in the Wind Energy journal [10.1002/we.1661] .
