Additional information

This research integrates modelling, systems analysis and experimental techniques to explore oscillatory phenomena in NF-kB signal pathway, which is pivotal in controlling innate immunity, but can also contribute to carcinogenesis. For the first time sustained oscillation in this pathway was investigated using bifurcation theory together with experimental evidence. It brought new insights and inspired a number of further experimental efforts (Prof. White’s lab at Manchester University, mike.white@manchester.ac.uk; Prof. Hoffmann’s lab, University of California, San Diego, ahoffman@ucsd.edu).
