Additional information

In this research the use of the Fourier/beamspace domain dramatically simplifies the design effort for frequency dependent broadband multi-dimensional beamformers. This has triggered further work and also led to the first text book on broadband beamforming further detailing the work [Liu and Weiss, Wideband Beamforming, Wiley, ISBN-10: 0470713925, 2009]. The results are now also utilised for beamforming in a 3D formation of fractionated spacecraft in a collaborative project with Strathclyde's Advanced Space Concepts Laboratory and an EPSRC Industrial CASE Studentship (2010-13) on fractionated spacecraft receivers with Steepest Ascent Ltd [Principal Engineer, jamie.bowman@steepestascent.com].
