Additional information

Broadcast/multicast Wavelength Division Multiplexing Passive Optical Network (WDM PON) implementation is demonstrated. The novelty lies in the use of Reflective Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers, developed under a joint project with Glasgow University [anthony.kelly@glasgow.ac.uk] and Nanyang Technological University [Prof. WenDe Zhong, EWDZhong@ntu.edu.sg]. The asymmetry in connections of existing implementations hinders a richer mix of interaction between users: this architecture allows the broadcast of content to an increased number of users increasing revenue streams for service providers.
