Additional information

This research is the outcome of collaboration with the National Research Council in Ottawa, focused on solving existing electronic bottlenecks in signal processing. The paper, for the first time, reports on the design, manufacturing, and experimental demonstration of a novel, integrated Terabit/sec capable CMOS compatible all-optical switching platform based on the fundamentally novel concept of combining sub-wavelength grating and nano-wire waveguides. The research also formed the basis of follow-on study supported by the Royal Society International Exchanges Scheme 2012/R2 for a joint collaboration with McGill University [lawrence.chen@mcgill.ca].
